Bournemouth beat Manchester United 3–0 at Old Trafford on Sunday, extending the hosts’ winless run to eight matches in all competitions and increasing the pressure on Michael Carrick. Rayan, Marcus Tavernier and Evanilson scored as United remained close to the Premier League relegation places.

Rayan opened the scoring in the 38th minute, finishing at the far post from Justin Kluivert’s free-kick. Tavernier doubled the advantage five minutes later after Leny Yoro slipped, allowing Adrien Truffert to provide the pass for a close-range finish.

Evanilson had an effort ruled out for offside soon after half-time but made the result secure in the 71st minute. He reached Lewis Cook’s long ball before goalkeeper Senne Lammens and finished from a tight angle into the unguarded net.

Carrick had left captain Bruno Fernandes out of the starting line-up following United’s midweek Champions League defeat at Como. Fernandes remained an unused substitute, with Matheus Cunha replacing Youri Tielemans at the interval as the hosts tried to recover from their two-goal deficit.

United have seven points from eight league games, placing them 16th and one point above the relegation zone. Opta said it was their lowest points total at this stage of a league season since 1986–87.

Elsewhere, Liverpool earned their first home Premier League win of the campaign by beating Brighton 2–0. Pascal Gross diverted Florian Wirtz’s shot into his own net in the 17th minute before Alexander Isak converted Bradley Barcola’s delivery four minutes later.

The result moved Liverpool into fourth place on 15 points, one behind Brighton. Isak has now scored in three successive Premier League matches, while the visitors’ run of four consecutive league victories came to an end.
